08 Aug CDO Establishments Victims of New Modus: Unknown Person Calls, Places Order and Asks for Phone Load
Councilor Dometilo Acenas, during his special report in the 4th regular session of the City Council last July 27, 2016, informed the body regarding the new modus that victimizes business establishments especially here in the city.
According to Acenas, the said modus works with an unknown person who calls and places an order of some products from an establishment using names of certain individuals and city officials then subsequently asks for cellphone load. He even said that he has been a victim of the said modus thrice.
Acenas recalled that it was in June of this year when the first incident happened. Kilos of Monterey meat worth P8,000 was delivered to his office then an unknown person who was behind the act asked him for Globe load worth P1,500.
Then the second incident was when an unknown person called a flower shop, which happened to be located at Barangay 1, and ordered a P5,000 worth bouquet of flowers under the name of Councilor Jun Acenas. The said unknown person even said that the councilor ordered it for him and his wife’s wedding anniversary. The bouquet was delivered to the City Hall and the person demanded for a P500 worth of load.
The latest incident which happened just last July 26, 2016 was when Acenas was attending the meeting of the committee on senior citizens at the City Hall. He said that four cartons of pizza from Yellow Cab Pizza worth P2,600 was delivered. The unknown caller also ordered P200 worth of grocery items and asked for P1,200 Globe load for a total of P4,000. What Acenas did was he went to Yellow Cab to clear his name.
With this, Acenas asked the local tri-media to help him circulate the incidents to put a stop to the said modus.
