Young CDO Filmmaker bags “Gold Award” at the 1st ACADEO Film Fest

Arron Melendez, a young filmmaker who hails from Lapasan, CDO, bagged the coveted “Gold Award” during 1st Acadeo Film Festival Viewing & Awarding Ceremony last February 4, 2017, at Maison de Bonbon – The Nest, with his film about the tribulations of a mother and her love for her lost child.

The event was attended by the cast and crew of the final three entries of the 1st ACADEO Film Fest namely; Hulagway, Duaw, and Bluetooth.

Melendez’s film entitled “Hulagway” follows the story of “Aning” – a young mother, as she recalled the events that led to her son’s death.  The gripping story was dramatically portrayed through spectacular cinematography work and visual creativity.

Melendez also won the Best Director and Best Cinematography for his film, along with the Best Actress award for Aning which was portrayed by actress Chanel Falcon.

Filmmaker Adrian Rey Manapil bagged the “Silver Award” for his film “Bluetooth” – a romantic comedy which follows the love story of Leah and Jiro. The film also bagged the award for Best in Screenplay and Best Actor for Nestor Lagat, who portrayed Jiro.

Joshua Sepe won the “Bronze Award” for his film “Duaw” – a suspense thriller short film.
