Cagayan de Oro City First District Congressman Rolando “Klarex” Uy, a Liberal Party (LP) member, shows support for Vice President Candidate Bongbong Marcos who is under the Nacionalista party.
The endorsement happened on Friday, Aprill 22, two days after Congressman Uy endorse Grace Poe, a non-liberal party member, as his Presidential bet over LP standard-bearer Mar Roxas.
Despite the sudden turn of events, Uy emphasized that he is still loyal to the local LP chapter he is affiliated to.
Uy, together with Marcos, met at Pearlmont Hotel with other organizers last Friday. He testified his connection with Marcos when they were members of the House of Representatives. “He visited me while I was just a barangay captain, and when I became a congressman, we worked together on several issues,” he said.
Mayor Oscar Moreno, an LP member, told the media that Uy’s action is expected. This is when Roxas and the rest of the LP confirmed their endorsement of Uy’s rival, Candy Darimbang. Uy waited for this endorsement to befall upon him, but did not come after months of longing for it.
Darimbang is the wife of regional director Manny Darimbang of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRD).
