Mga higala! The City Government of Cagayan de Oro and the Nazareno Parish Church is now considering replacing the usually crowded Black Nazarene Procession with a “motorcade”, for the upcoming commemoration this January 9, 2021!

This aims to prevent the mass gathering of people and eliminate the risks of catching or spreading COVID-19.

In today’s press briefing, Major Evan Viñas of the COCPO said that this was proposed during their meeting with the Nazareno parish. In line with this, Mayor Oscar Moreno then reiterated that public health is the city’s primary concern in the annual Black Nazarene procession.
