During the Brunei International Trade and Consumer Exhibit 2016, their products got sold out even before the last day of the said exhibit. And also, in the Global Sources fair held in Hong Kong last October of last year, 2016, their product “Beehive Chandelier” was chosen as one of the Top 3 Most Innovative Products of 2016.
It can also be recalled that Cagayan de Oro Handmade Paper was one of the participants in the Manila FAME held last October of the year 2016. Displaying its “jelly fish lamp” and other products, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) gave their commendations and even increased the company’s allotted space in the exhibit. To mention, CITEM bought many of the “jelly fish lamps” to adorn the Cafe Resto located at the World Trade Center. Not only that, an Italian buyer even got interested on the lamps booking a 20-footer container van filling it with the jellyfish-designed lamps bound for Italy.
With the impressive presence of Cagayan de Oro Handmade Paper during the Manila FAME 2016, CITEM decided to subsidize and endorse the mentioned company’s participation in the Ambiente International Fair as one of the 17 exhibitors coming from the Philippines, the only one representing Mindanao.
Owned by Lolita “Luchi” B. Cabanlet, Cagayan de Oro Handmade Paper was established in 1993. It only started as Luchi’s hobby then turned into a profitable enterprise. With such kind of business that needs constant innovation, it wasn’t that easy for the company to move forward. However, with the help of one of Luchi’s daughters, Maria Francesca Nicole B. Cabanlet, who graduated with a degree in interior designing, the company was able to reach greater heights. From mere handicrafts, it was diversified into home furnishings and fashion accessories. The company then went massive in terms of trade participation and online presence.
