13 May CDO Now Investigating Death Of 73-Year-Old Who Died After Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine
Mga higala! The Cagayan de Oro gov’t is now conducting an investigation regarding the death of Zoilo Joaquin Borcillo, the 73-year-old man who died after receiving his first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19!
The said man was given his initial dose yesterday, May 12, 2021, at the vaccination center in SM CDO Downtown Premier.
In a recent press briefing, the head of the city’s vaccination operation center– Dr. William Bernardo, said that Borcillo is from Brgy. Agusan and was included in the vaccination program as a senior citizen with comorbidities.
He then added that upon examination and counseling, a slight blood pressure elevation (150/80) was detected in Borcillo but it was within the range acceptable by the Department of Health (DOH).
Bernardo also stated that their doctors said that he was ambulatory and does not look sick by physical appearance.
Upon passing the evaluations, he was then finally vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine and was placed in the observation area.
However, after a few minutes, Borcillo experienced difficulty breathing and was rushed to the JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH), where he was pronounced dead on arrival (DOA).
Mayor Moreno has ordered this incident to be thoroughly investigated to determine the cause of death and/or what really happened, including the fact that the said senior citizen allegedly had an “open heart surgery” but did not declare it to the city’s health personnel prior to his vaccination.
“Now, siguro, ang lesson diha– katong mga vaccinees, isulti lang gyud ang tinood,” said Moreno.
