CDO: No Vaccination, No Entry—A National Gov’t Mandate

Mga higala! In a recent press briefing, Mayor Oscar Moreno clarified that the “no vaccination, no entry” policy that’s being enforced by Cagayan de Oro City is a mandate set by the national government on all local governments across the Philippines!

According to Mayor Moreno, he recently met with some religious leaders who believed that he ordered the said mandate. He made an effort to hear their concerns about vaccination and relayed it to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) through the regional IATF.

He then made clear to them that it’s not his directive and that the city is just implementing what the national government decided as a way of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I told them that the national government takes the lead and the local governments follow what is set (by the national government). In cases where local governments are given discretion, we avoid to widen the limitations.”

ICYDK, the “no vaccination, no entry” policy is part of the nationwide Alert Level 2 guidelines.
