23 Nov CDO Police Chief Willing to Vacate his Position
Following the misdeeds happening inside the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) concerning the kidnapping incident, the city police chief Senior Superintendent Ronnie Francis Cariaga is willing to resign from his post.
According to a report from Sun.Star, the city police chief said on November 21, Monday, that he will take the fall for the faults committed by his own men and that he is willing to vacate his position.
Cariaga said that being the city police director, by virtue of command responsibility, he is partly to be blamed for the infringements of the five police officers accused of kidnapping Enrique Fernandez III on October 23.
He said that if the public doesn’t trust him anymore then he’ll give way because it seems that what happened with the five police officers was his fault. He added that if ever it was his fault, then he is willing to vacate the position and give way to a new leadership.
However, Cariaga said that he has not given up yet on the responsibility of clearing troublesome policemen in Cocpo.
He added, if this is how it will turn out to be that he doesn’t have the honor to remain in Cagayan de Oro, though he still hopes and relies on the statement from the mayor stating that he wants him to succeed, find ways but if there’s none then he has no reason to remain here.
