21 Feb CDO Under Red Alert Due to Warnings of Terrorist Attacks
After the Philippine National Police (PNP)-10 received reports about the inclusion of Cagayan de Oro City of Misamis Oriental and Ozamiz City of Misamis Occidental as targets of the Maute terrorist group’s plans of bombing, Cagayan de Oro City’s security was lifted on red alert.
Though there is a possibility that the information sent may be a hoax, however, according to Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) spokesperson C/Insp Mardy Hortillosa II, such kind of threats shouldn’t just be ignored.
It can be recalled that the same group plotted a bombing in Davao City which took many lives.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, PNP regional spokesperson Sup. Lemuel Gonda is alerting all of the police stations especially those that are near in Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur commanding them to strictly provide security among vital installations and to establish road checkpoints.
