16 Mar Cagayan de Oro City inaugurates biggest public school
In a report from Sunstar Cagayan de Oro, the city government inaugurated yesterday March 15, the biggest public school in the city, which will be the new home of the Cagayan de Oro National High School.
The biggest public school is located at 12-28th Streeth, Nazareth Village and will be the new home for some 6,000 students. The new school site has a four-storey building with 80 classrooms.
However, authorities said the new site is still not enough for the 6,000 students that will be transferred so they still may need the old buildings and by 2017 a total of 127 classrooms will be added to accommodate the students.
Mayor Oscar Moreno plans to have more classrooms as the student population is expected to rise in the coming years. Moreno has been an advocate for education since he assumed office in 2013 and built 400 schools.
The school building was solely funded by the taxpayers of the city with the support of the Local School Board.
