06 Dec Celebrating The Solemn Belief of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (A List of Immaculate Conception Churches)
Before we finally celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ, let us look back on the lady who gave birth to our Savior, Mama Mary.
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which is commonly observed on December 8 and represents the solemn belief in the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. One of the most important Marian feasts in the liturgical calendar of the Roman Catholic Church, celebrated worldwide.
And although this is a global commemoration, it wasn’t until recently that the Philippine Government passed a law in making December 8 a Special Non-Working Holiday.
In an article from philnews.ph, the holiday has been declared after the House of Representatives approved the house bill 5241 considering December 8 as a special non-working holiday every year.
Nevertheless, the house bill still needs the President and Senate’s approval in order to be formally implemented.
Meanwhile, below are the lists of churches in the city that will be celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception:
Immaculate Conception Parish – Aluba Subdivision Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City
Immaculate Conception Chaplaincy – National Highway, Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City
University Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Xavier University, Corrales Avenue, Cagayan de Oro City
And of the most popular churches in Misamis Oriental is the Immaculate Conception church or Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepción de María located in Poblacion, Jasaan.
A Baroque Church that mimics the famous San Ignacio Church of Intramuros in Manila. It was declared by the National Museum as a National Cultural Treasure in Northern Mindanao because of its artistic design and cultural values.
