12 Jan Chardiel Coffee Machine Café: A New Divinely Heavenly Coffee Place to Unwind, Bond, or Just De-stress
There is no doubt that Kagay-anons love their coffee and tea. There seems to be a great feeling of relaxation, bonding, or just browsing online using gadgets when you’re seated alone or in a group with a mug of coffee or a spot of tea in any of Cagayan de Oro’s numerous coffee shops.
Some Kagay-anons have made it known, amusingly, that the coffee and tea in these shops is the quickest way to “detox” because of all the delicious lechon delicacies and lechon belly shops lurking around the city. But kidding aside, Cagayan de Oro now has another coffee shop to add to the feather in its cap, and this one is kind of different from the rest.
The new place is called Chardiel Coffee Machine Café and it is located at Door 111, Great Spot Arcade, J.R. Borja Extension. Yes, that J.R. Borja Extension, and if you’re thinking twice as to why a coffee shop would locate there, you’ve been probably been staying at home too long, so you need to bring yourself there and see how busy that stretch of highway has become, including hotels, gasoline stations, depots of every kind, and various business establishments. They only opened last November 11 of last year.
Basically, Chardiel Coffee Machine Café is a comfortable place where you can just plunk down on a chair and relax with a cup of coffee or tea. It’s also a nice place to study, even work, or just bond with friends or family. They serve, well, of course, coffee, tea, blended drinks, cakes and pastries. They even serve all-day breakfast meals.
The design, architecture, layout, and furniture of the place will remind you of those cozy French coffee shops or European industrial coffee shops, a different trend away from the American-type coffee shops and other coffee shop pretenders that have proliferated around the city today.
Price-wise, their rates aren’t that expensive. Their coffee and tea drinks are affordable, and naturally you have to expect their blended beverages to be a little pricey since the ingredients of these drinks have to be purchased from outside the country. Their cakes and pastries are just as affordable.
For a minimum purchase of P400, you will be allowed to choose and borrow from their array of table board games. They even have the latest Star Wars Monopoly board game. What a great way to enjoy with family or friends while sipping away. They also have some card games for those into these types of games.
It’s something different than playing those individualized computer and gadget games since the whole group gets to join in the fun with the matching laughter and teasing. If you haven’t experienced playing scrabble or snakes and ladders then something has been missing in your life.
Chardiel Coffee Machine Café is open 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight on Sunday to Thursday and at 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Power outages are no problem because they have stand-by generator.
When we looked up “Chardiel” in the dictionary, it turns out that it’s the name of one of the seven angels that rides a fiery chariot in heaven. Perhaps the proprietors chose this name because the place and coffee is divinely heavenly.
