16 Apr CHED Urges Universities & Colleges To Start Classes In August This 2019
Mga higala! The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is now urging all public universities and colleges to start their classes this 2019, on the month of August, instead of June or July.
Based on a CHED memorandum issued last April 5, which was released yesterday, April 15, CHED Chairman Prospero de Vera III said the shift would ensure that schools’ academic calendars are aligned with the fiscal year.
“All state universities and colleges (SUCs) and local universities and colleges (LUCs) are enjoined to synchronize its respective academic year to a fiscal year starting fiscal year (FY) 2019.”
De Vera stressed that this will help ease the processing of schools’ budgets since the government is now shifting to cash-based budgeting.
