04 May Dali, let’s eat: Bacolod’s Chicken Deli finally opens in CDeO

At last! One of the best and authentic chicken inasal in Bacolod City, Chicken Deli, is finally here in Cagayan de Oro! Last April 30, 2017, on a warm Sunday soon, I was one of the lucky few to witness the opening of its new store on the 3rd floor of Centrio Ayala Mall.

After talking to the staffs of the store, I found out that it indeed originated in Bacolod City and was founded in 1983 by the Ciocon family. Since then, their business has been expanding nationwide. The program for their ribbon cutting did not start immediately as they are awaiting the arrival of CDO City Mayor Oscar Moreno as one of their VIPs for that day’s event. Alas, the program has started and everyone started to become busy taking photos and videos. After the ribbon cutting, the staffs guided us inside to enjoy their mouth-watering foods.

Upon entering the store, the smell of the foods made me drool and even made me feel hungrier. Wearing beautifully adorned masks and feathery headdresses, the crew welcomed us in a very welcoming and warm way. After I fully took a good look at the place, it was time for me to roam around, take pictures while observing the activities of people.

After several minutes, it’s eating time! The meals have been served then and the best dish that I have eaten among the foods that they served is the mouth watering breast and wing-chicken barbecue, PechoPak. Of all the chicken barbecues that I have tasted so far, Pechopak is different. The moment that I took a bite on its tender grilled skin, I can feel its crispy skin on my mouth which adds more drama to its already delicious meat.

One thing about the store that caught my heart is the genuine hospitality of the staffs towards the customers which they showed us in their own simple ways like checking us out one by one if we still have rice on your plate. I must say that of all the restaurants out there that offers unli-rice to their customers, Chicken Deli is one that made a dent to my heart. Unlike other unli-rice restaurants out there that do the refilling only when the customer calls on the server, the staffs of Chicken Deli take the initiative to check on the customer and ask them if they still want a rice refill. Aside from that, you can also try their other menus that are also offered with unlimited rice and with affordable prices.

The accommodation of a restaurant is also an important factor to get more customers aside from the quality food being offered. It’s one edgy trait that other restaurants out there should copy from Chicken Deli.
