05 May P15 million worth of China-made fireworks seized in Cagayan de Oro
A P15 million worth of China-made fireworks seized by the Bureau of Customs last year were finally turned over to the Philippine National Police last April 30, 2017, in Cagayan de Oro City.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) director Neil Estrella said that the shipment containing the fireworks were falsely declared as drinking glasses, cups, reams of bond paper, and sanitary napkins.
The confiscated fireworks and firecrackers were concealed and hidden inside four 40-foot container vans and shipped out at Mindanao Container Terminal sub-port in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental from China last year.
According to Alvin Y. Enciso, chief of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) in Region 10, they have already destroyed the contrabands to avoid selling in the market.
The shipment came from Chinese importers Quingtian Zhangchao Import and Export Co. Ltd., Yiwu Suge Import and Export Co. Ltd., and Guangzhou Kind Sam Import and Export Co. Ltd.
