Mga higala! The City Health Office (CHO) of Cagayan de Oro is now urging parents to immunize their kids because they have already recorded 3 deaths due to measles and 38 other confirmed cases for the month of February 2019.

2 of the 3 who died were infants, the first one was one year and three months old while the other was only eight months old.

According to an article by Sunstar CDO, measles and other diseases affecting kids have been escalating over the last year, due to the low rate of immunization caused by the dengvaxia controversy.

“Because of the dengvaxia issue, people were scared to get vaccinated so now we have an increased number of measles cases,” said Dr. Fe Bongcas of CHO.

Moreover, the City Health Office (CHO) has disclosed that the most number of measles cases are in the barangays of Carmen, Lapasan, Cugman, and Balulang.

ICYDK: Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by the measles virus. Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, and inflamed eyes.
