PH Coast Guard Confiscates Boxes Of Endangered Taklobo Shells In Cagayan de Oro

Mga higala! 2 boxes of endangered Taklobo shells were confiscated by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Cagayan de Oro, while conducting port security, last Wednesday, February 6.

The boxes weighed approximately 46 kilos and were found in the possession of Mr. Domingo Tolin, 28 years old, and Mr. Ruby Regencia, 31 years old, both residents of Barangay Bandera, Polanco, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Tolin and Regencia were traveling from Zamboanga Del Norte bound to Cagayan de Oro City.

The PCG coordinated with the personnel of Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Misamis Occidental and confirmed that the Taklobo shells are considered endangered marine species.

The suspects and confiscated items were then properly turned over to BFAR for proper disposition and filing of a case.
