26 Mar Coast Guard Confiscates P360,000 Of Ukay-Ukay @ The Cagayan de Oro Port
Mga higala! The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has confiscated over 60 bundles of UKAY-UKAY worth around P360,000 last Thursday, March 21, at the Cagayan de Oro Port in Barangay Macabalan.
While conducting inspections in the said port, Coast Guard Station Misamis Oriental and Marine Environmental Protection Unit-Northern Mindanao received a report that an MV Trans Asia 19 vessel is carrying suspicious cargoes, bound for Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
The teams went to check the vessel and confirmed that it is transporting loads of used clothing or “ukay-ukay”, which are prohibited due to various health risks.
They then coordinated with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and found out that the bundles of ukay-ukay lack pertinent custom papers and permit to transport.
The confiscated items were hauled by the PCG from the Cagayan de Oro Port and were turned-over to BOC-10 office for proper disposition.
