12 Jan COVID-19 Patient Escapes Isolation Facility In CDO: Nabbed On The Same Day
Mga higala! A positive COVID-19 patient escaped from an isolation facility in Cagayan de Oro City last Sunday, January 10, 2021!
The said facility is located in Brgy. Agusan.
Thankfully, with the help of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), the patient was nabbed on the same day and was returned by health teams to the isolation unit.
In their press briefing yesterday, January 11, Mayor Oscar Moreno expressed his frustration about the incident and said that isolation facilities are not prisons and that by escaping the patient risked the health and safety of his family.
“Kanang atong TTMF, CIUs, dili na presohan. They are not held there against their will. But we are duty-bound to ensure nga katong positive are isolated, mao ng were doing that. Beyond these duties, masabtan unta nila nga kanang isolation para na sa ila ug para sa mahal nila sa kinabuhi. Kay kung wala sila diha, sigurado jud matakdan nila ilang close contacts.”
The mayor also added that, “Wala niya huna-hunaa ang iyang mahal sa kinabuhi, ang iyang gihuna-huna ang iya rang kaugalingon, unsay convenient sa iya. Tonto!”
The authorities are now investigating how and why this patient escaped and his possible close contacts during this time. Family members who were exposed to this patient have also been quarantined.
Moreover, the patient might also face charges for initially resisting the authorities.
