19 Dec Crime Volume in Northern Mindanao Decreased by 33%
Crime volume in Northern Mindanao has decreased by 33 percent during the third quarter of this year, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO) – Northern Mindanao.
On a report by Sun.Star, last year of the same period, the police have recorded 8,748 crimes but it has decreased this year, 2016 with 5,873 crimes.
36 percent of the total crime volume were from the index crimes which involves murder, homicide, robbery, theft, carnapping, and physical injury, while non-index crimes are those involving non-aggravate assault, forgery and counterfeiting, fraud, embezzlement, stolen property, vandalism, weapons, prostitution, and gambling, among others, were down to 2,119 cases for this year compared to 3,620 of 2015. About 41 percent was decreased.
While for the non-index crimes, about 64 percent of the total crime volume was also dropped by 27 percent.
All police office recorded a reduction of 21 percent from 62 to 41 per 100,000 population in the average monthly crime rate (AMCR).
The police force in the region is now at 7,841 policemen with a police to population ratio of 1:619 as of November 2016.
