The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Northern Mindanao Office has expressed its optimism that it will achieve its P13-B target collection by the end of 2017.

In an article from Davao Today, the goal of the BOC in attaining the target amount of collection will be bolstered by its recent move in stepping up its tax shipments of importers and exporters throughout the region.

According BOC-10 Collector Jamail Marohomsalic, Customs actually has P12 billion for as an initial target but it was adjusted to P13 billion seeing that from the start of the year up to October, the collection has already totalled to over P10 billion.

Marohomsalic said that the amount is attainable if stakeholders which are composed of importers and exporters will show honesty in their shipment transactions and tax payment.

The high collection of the bureau is also due to the sales of the auction of goods that were confiscated because of the lack of necessary requirements. The auction yielded a total of P2.5 million which was held last Nov 2.

Marvin Mison, Deputy Collector for Assessment and Auction Committee Vice Chairman, said that there will be another round of auction that will happen on November 24 for confiscated items such as tiles, used truck parts, steel bars, hardwood products, iodized salt, beddings, assorted kitchenware, among others.
