17 Aug Da Intercepts 19,000kg Of Chicken Meat In Cdeo
About 19,000 kilograms of dressed chicken in Cagayan de Oro City yesterday, August 16, were intercepted by operatives from the Department of Agriculture (DA) to prevent the spread of bird flu virus from Luzon.
In an article from GMA News Online, the mass of chickens were shipped from Luzon despite the recent order to ban of transporting of poultry products within the country to stop the spread of the avian influenza virus which originated from Pampanga.
Authorities also seized 1,500 eggs in Aklan at the same day that were also suspected to be coming from the same shipment in Luzon.
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said that criminal charges will be filed against those who will be found out allowing the transportation of eggs and chicken meat especially those that are originated from Luzon.
