27 Jan P364M Damage to Infra and Crops in VisMin Caused by heavy rainfall
Regions in Visayas and Mindanao, namely the Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao and Northern Mindanao experienced flooding and landslides caused by the tail-end of a cold front since January 16, 2017, Monday resulting to damages in infrastructure and crops up to P364 million.
In a report from Sun.Star, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) disclosed a situation report which showed that P276.1 million-worth of infrastructure and P88.08 million-worth of crops were damaged in the mentioned regions.
Caraga suffered the biggest damage to infrastructure estimated at P90 million while Northern Mindanao sustained P80 million-worth of damage to crops.
Below is a breakdown of the damage to infrastructure and crops to each region:
Damage to infrastructure:
- Western Visayas – P63 million
- Central Visayas – P40 million
- Eastern Visayas – P75 million
- Northern Mindanao – P6.08 million
- Davao – P2.02 million
Damage to crops:
- Central Visayas – P600,000
- Davao – P7.4 million
