Date 2016 to Focus on Golden Crops of Mindanao

On September 22 to 24, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier in Davao City is the 18th year of Davao Agri-Trade Expo (DATE) which is an annual flagship event of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) organized for the development of the agriculture industry in Davao Region. And for this year, the said event will focus on Mindanao’s golden crops.

Cacao, coconut, rice, coffee and corn are considered golden crops of Mindanao, and the processing, marketing, exporting and processing of the said crops will be the focus of the Date 2016.

“This year we will go beyond production, we will bring in activities, experts that will teach how to market and be bent on the challenge on finding new market, opportunities in agriculture,” said program director of date 2016 John Carlo Tria during a press forum last June 29, 2016 at Habi at kape in Abreeza Ayala Mall.

With the theme “Bridging the Gap: Global Opportunities for Mindanao’s Golden Crops”, the expo is said to bridge agri-traders, businessmen, and consumers according to DCCCII Executive Vice President (EVP) Sofronio Jucutan.

Last 2013, 63 exhibitors and 8,000 trade visitors attended the expo generating P84 million exhibitor’s sales. This year, the event is expected to gather 10,000 trade visitors.
