Mga higala! The Department of Education (DepEd) is now leaning towards opening School Year 2020-2021 this August and is also considering the possibility of Saturday classes, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To reach a decision, DepEd has been conducting consultations for the past 2 weeks, with its executive committee, management committee, civil society, business sector, and education experts. They are also waiting for the assessment of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases.

ICYDK, the law provides that the school opening in the Philippines shall start on the first Monday of June, but no later than the last day of August.
