04 Mar DepEd Extends Current School Year To July 10, SemBreak: Only March 15-19
Mga higala! The Department of Education (DepEd) has officially extended School Year 2020-2021 to July 10, instead of the initially planned end on June 11!
This extension aims to address learning gap problems and other difficulties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Below is the adjusted school calendar:
- March 1 to March 12– Intervention and remediation activities based on the unique needs of learners.
- March 15 to March 19– Teachers will attend In-Service Training (INSET) organized by their school or by other relevant units of DepEd. This will also be the semestral break for students.
- March 22 to May 15– Quarter 3
- May 17 to July 10– Quarter 4
This new schedule will “allow schools to implement interventions for bridging learning gaps and to give time to teachers for the different learning delivery modalities”.
This will be implemented in all public elementary and secondary schools nationwide. However, private schools, technical and vocational institutions, and higher education institutions, including state and local universities and colleges, are encouraged to implement these guidelines.
