DOH Clarifies That COVID-19 Is “Not Airborne”

Mga higala! The Department of Health (DOH) wants to clarify for everyone that the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 is not airborne, and can only be transmitted through droplets and close contact.

This clarification was made by DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire in response to a US study that showed that when someone infected with COVID-19 coughs or sneezes, it will still be able to affect people for at least 3 hours.

“Ito pong sakit sa (This disease) COVID-19 is still transmitted through droplet transmissions and close contact,” explained Vergeire.

Because of this, she also reiterated the importance of social distancing.
