Mga higala! The Department of Health (DOH) has declared a NATIONAL DENGUE ALERT just last week, due to the spike of reported dengue cases this 2019, with 456 deaths as of this July.

According to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, this “dengue alert” was declared to raise public awareness on this health threat, because a total of 106,630 cases has been recorded nationwide since January 1 to June 29, 2019, which is 85% higher compared to the same period last year, which is 57,564.

He also expressed concern that the country might encounter the same crisis experienced in 2016, 2013, and 2009 if precautionary measures against this mosquito-borne disease are not taken.

But, Duque also stressed that there was no national epidemic.
