20 Oct DOLE: 13th Month Pay Not Necessarily Equal To Monthly Salary
Mga higala! Labor Undersecretary Benjo Benavidez clarified yesterday, October 19, 2021, that the law only requires the granting of a “proportionate” 13th month pay!
This means that the said pay is not necessarily equal to an employee’s monthly salary.
ICYDK, your 13th month pay depends on your “total basic salary earned for the year” and will be affected by leaves, absences, and work suspensions. Check out the example below:
(13TH MONTH PAY: Total Basic Salary x Employment Length ÷ 12 Months)
