20 Oct DOLE Reminds Employers That “No Vaccine, No Salary” Is Prohibited
Mga higala! The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is now reminding employers that the “no vaccine, no salary” policy is prohibited!
According to DOLE Undersecretary Benjo Santos Benavidez, the said policy is a “withholding of wages” violation that has a criminal aspect and is punishable by fines and/or prison time.
Benavidez then added that the public should report any employer who implements this policy.
Moreover, DOLE also wants to reiterate that being unvaccinated against COVID-19 is not reason enough to fire or suspend an employee. The requirement of vaccinations and vaccination cards as part of hiring conditions is also prohibited.
