DPWH Gives 38% Of Their Budget To Mindanao

38% of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) budget will be given to Mindanao according to Mark Villar, Public Works and Highways Secretary.

On August 18, Thursday, Villar said during the second day of Social Development Initiative Summit at SMX Lanang Convention Center, Davao City, “These infrastructures are the most ambitious infrastructure program in the history of the Philippines.”

He added, “For our farmers to be more productive and the transportation of goods and services to be enhanced.” The budget will be passed to Mindanao’s logistics network program.

“There are more local goods, our target of paving all national roads is already complete. But of course every year more national roads (are needed) so it’s a moving target,” Villar said.

Most projects in Davao are road widening to provide a more convenient and efficient connection going Cagayan de Oro or Butuan City. He said, “So by next year, they will already see the rural development, especially in Mindanao which got the highest allocation.” He added that DPWH wants to speed up the developments in Mindanao.

Areas outside Metro Manila are to also have infrastructure project to give employment opportunities, develop the nation’s capital and achieve overall growth, Carlos Dominguez, Finance Secretary said.
