07 Apr P17-M drainage system repair in Cogon Market ongoing
In a report from Sunstar Cagayan de Oro, the city had started its P17 million reconstruction project of the drainage system two days ago at Cogon Market.
In an interview from Sunstar CDeO, Rodney Quiblat, focal person of the project that the first part of the construction started along Yacapin Street to Capt. Vicente Roa streets and will include the drainage inside the market specifically on the meat section which cost P8.5 million and was anticipated that will end after 45 days.
Moreover, the proposed drainage is 6 meters down in comparison with the old which is 0.6 meters that result to the clogging when it rains. He explained, that the deep of the old drainage does not match with the main drainage, as a result, the City Economic Enterprises Department (CEED) conducts constant declogging.
In addition, the chair of CEED; City Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya stated that the said project will amount P17 million that includes the repair of the drainage system, design and resectioning, and also arranging the stall holders.
And he assured that all the affected licensed and registered vendors will be accommodated in the distribution of stalls inside the market.
The City Government’s objective of restoring the public markets is to make it more competitive with the booming malls and stores in the city where they can visualize that a market is not only food and services selling but also a healthy environment where customers can enjoy shopping and buying grocery items.
