30 May Dream Road 2: Travel Time from Marawi to Cagayan de Oro Will Only be an Hour and a Half When Completed in 2019
The road dubbed as “Dream Road 2” which is to connect Marawi City and the municipalities of Kapai and Tagoloan, Lanao del Sur, to Talakag Bukidnon is continuously being pushed and supported by the provincial government and is expected to be completed in the first or second quarter of the year 2019.
Currently ongoing is the construction of the Kapai-Lower Tagoloan section of the said road, allotted with an amount of P75 million from the DPWH Region 10 2016 budget.
On May 27, incumbent governor of Lanao del Sur Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong, Jr. visited the site specifically the 32-kilometre Upper Tagoloan section. According to him, the Department of Public Works and Highways in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DPWH-ARMM) has already allotted an amount of P250 million for the specific road’s construction which will commence next month.
The Dream Road 2 is an alternate route to the city of Cagayan de Oro. When coming from Marawi, travel time will only be an hour and a half compared to the 3-hour Marawi-Iligan-CDO national road. As said by Adiong, investors, farmers and businessmen from Region 10 can easily transport their products and goods to the province and vice versa with the shorter travel time and lesser traffic as soon as the project gets completed.
The DPWH-ARMM already spent a total of P111 million on the road rehabilitation and construction of the Kapai section. An additional fund of P230 million is allotted for the Dream Road 2’s ongoing construction as what the office of ARMM Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman has entered into a memorandum of Agreement with the Lanao del Sur provincial government. And an additional P250 million from the 2017 national budget has been requested according to DPWH Region 10 Engr. Mickey Macabantog for the completion for the said road.
