08 Sep Joint Drug Buy-Bust Operation at Lapasan Arrested 3, 11 to be Interrogated
On September 5, Monday evening, three were arrested and 11 others were invited for interrogation during a joint drug bust operation by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Cagayan de Oro City (CIDG-CDO) and the Regional Anti-illegal Drug Special Operation Team (RAIDSOT) at Gaabucayan Extension, Agora, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
Suspects who were arrested for illegal possession of firearms were William Ogdamin, Maxwell Mondijar, and Ric Andig as identified by Chief Inspector Melgar Devaras, CIDG deputy chief for Northern Mindanao.
Devaras stated, “Pinaka-target talaga natin itong tatlo based sa information sila talaga pasimuno ng pagtutulak. Ang dalawa nakunan natin ng suspected shabu at isa ay improvised na armas.”
An undercover personnel was assigned in the area to keep an eye on drug activities of the suspects for over two weeks and followed by a series of test buys, Devaras added.
As the unit arrived in the suspected drug den, 11 individuals ran and scrammed but the authorities halted and invited them for drug examination.
CIDG named the 11 individuals as Joel Magallano, 46; Francisco Estrada III, 32; Jocelyn Canete, 48; Ferelyn Cayao, 44; Loide Baculio, 38; Ahmie Estillone, 30; Lito Suaso, 42; Carlos Estillore, 36; Nelgon Sabaduquia Jr., 24; Richard Pansilong, 29; and Rosie Andelao, 58.
Seven sachets of suspected shabu weighed 0.8 grams worth about P7,200, marked money, and an improvised M16 rifle with an empty magazine were confiscated by the authorities.
Those 11 individuals will be released when proved to be negative for illegal drug use, Devaras said.
The three suspects contradicted any drug involvement and transactions.
Ogdamin, a welder, says he does not sell illegal drugs. As he spoke, “Trabaho pag-uli matulog, mao ra gayud na akong routine, wala ko mamaligya og shabu, wala pud ko mapaliti.”
Ogdamin and Mondijar said that some members of the team placed the illegal drugs and money in their pockets.
Ogdamin stated, “Nakita gayud nako nga gisuksok sa akong bulsa, mipalag pa gani ko maong naigo akong ulo sa dingding.”
The motive of the arrest was said to be personal, said Cayao, Ogdamin’s live-in partner. Senior Police Officer 4 Roel Bagares assigned at the Regional Police Office, who owned the suspected drug den had a conflict with Ogdamin.
