03 Aug Duterte Allocates P500 Million for State-of-the-Art AFP Equipment
On August 2, Tuesday, during President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Center, he stated that a P500 Million budget will soon be released to construct AFP’s new Hospital building and other medical equipment.
The budget has been approved by Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno and is set to be released soon.
Duterte said, “What Secretary Diokno gave you is about half a billion and it will be released soon.”
He also added, saying, “Magpasalamat tayo kay Secretary Diokno, ibinigay niya ho lahat ang gusto ninyo na mga equipment.”
The funds are not only intended for the new building, but also the repair costs for the maintenance of the old building’s structures.
“There’s a building that’s not suitable anymore for the confinement of soldiers who are hospitalized. I’ll give you a new building then I’ll refit, fix the bathrooms,” Duterte said.
“There will be changes in your internal procedure. There were complaints even about the medicines. There will be changes. I will insist on it,” he added.
Additional medical equipment will be provided such as MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), CT Scan, and equipment intended for surgical operations.
The President assured that all of these will be completed in December this year. He said, “bigyan ninyo ako ng until December. Pati ‘yung hospital ninyo, by December, kailangan tapos na ‘yan.”
Aside from these improvements, the President also gave a remarkable statement to the soldiers, stating that the education for their children will be paid by the government.
He said, “One of the things that you will have in the fullness of God’s time and inshallah is ‘yung program ninyo, mga anak ninyo, libre na ang edukasyon.”
