21 Dec Duterte Bans Firecrackers During Holidays
In an article posted by Bombo Radyo Cagayan de Oro, President Rodrigo Duterte announced the ban against the public use of firecrackers during the celebration of Christmas and New Year in the country.
This is in line with the President’s Executive Order No. 28 where firecrackers can only be used in ‘community fireworks display’ by every local govt unit.
This aims to prevent any firework-related injuries this holiday season.
According to the Regional Spokesperson of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Atty. Fel Brillantes, the facilitators should have a license before performing any community fireworks display.
The DILG, DENR, BFP, PNP and other agencies have been directed to strictly enforce the guidelines since the Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 630 fireworks-related injuries during last year’s celebration.
Moreover, the authorities already pledged to arrest citizens who will disobey the policy.
