20 Dec Duterte Declares Unilateral Ceasefire For NPA
Today, Malacañang issued the Suspension Of Military Operations (SOMO) by President Rodrigo Duterte for the New People’s Army (NPA).
Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said that this unilateral ceasefire will start on December 24, 2017, until January 2, 2018. This aims to lessen the public panic this Christmas.
Roque expressed the following statement: “The President announced last night a suspension of military operations (SOMO) from December 24 to January 2, 2018. This ceasefire would lessen the worry of the public this Christmas season. We expect that the CPP-NPA-NDFP would do a similar gesture of goodwill. Christmas holds a special place in the hearts of our countrymen. In the observance of this occasion, we hope that all Filipinos would stand together as one nation and aspire for peace in our beloved Philippines,”.
For the sake of this season’s true spirit, let’s pray and hope that the NPA will express the same action.
