09 Aug Duterte to Give Up Presidential Plane, Plans to Convert It into an Air Ambulance
Similar to his plans for the presidential yacht, President Rodrigo Duterte plans to turn the presidential plane, probably the Kalayaan One which is a Fokker F28-3000 jet, into a mobile emergency healthcare facility for soldiers.
It was last Monday, August 8, 2016 when Duterte had his 11th visit to the military camp in Camp Lukban in Catbalogan, Samar and told the soldiers there regarding the said plan of converting the presidential plane into an “air ambulance” saying, “We also requested Secretary Lorenzana to make arrangements because I’m giving up the presidential plane, reconvert it into an air ambulance.”
“Total, ako komportable na ako sa PAL (Philippine Airlines) at Cebu Pacific…Okay na siguro eroplano niyan. I’ll just ride commercial flights. Sometimes I use jet, small ones. Kung may gasoline, I’ll just pay ‘yung gasoline pati operational cost,” Duterte added.
It has been known that Duterte have taken a PAL flight from Manila to Davao City at least once, more often with private jet planes.
