Duterte Wants P2,000 Monthly SSS Pension Increase

sss increase

On Tuesday, May 31, in a press conference at the Presidential guest house in Davao City, president-elect Rodrigo Duterte said that he wants to push the barred appeal during the Aquino Administration of increasing the monthly SSS pension by P2,000.

His stand in this matter remained firm and has never wavered, he said, “I will increase it, alam niyo dapat binigay ‘yan.”

Previously, Aquino vetoed a Congress-approved bill that would grant SSS pensioners additional P2,000 in monthly pension. That is something that Duterte wants to change.

That is House Bill 5842 or “An act mandating a P2,000 across-the-board increase in the monthly pension with the corresponding adjustment of the minimum monthly pension under the Social Security System, amending for the purpose Section 12 of Republic Act No. 1661, as amended, otherwise known as the Social Security Act of 1997.”

He is very vocal in giving the retired government and private sector workers the best and fastest way to have their pensions claimed.

“While we have able bodies, we give our money for pension so that we can have something to receive in order to buy something, now with the prices of medicines going up, the P2,000 is not even enough,” said Duterte.

He voiced out to the delay and poor service of both SSS and GSIS, he said, “Listen, ang sama ng loob ko sa inyo (SSS, GSIS), ganito, I am a mayor of a city, where people would go to my office to complain, sometimes the SSS and GSIS nagfa-follow up yan sila, and minsan binibigay nila yung pension sa ibang tao and when you are confronted na may namatay na, doon pa ninyo malaman then you try to correct it, and it takes about two years to process it, My God.”

“Yan ang problema sa inyo, yan ang i-correct ninyo and sinasabi ko, one month with only five signatures, not more than that, correction kaagad, ora mismo, para di mahirapan,” he added.

According to Aquino, there are 2 million pensioners that will be given a P2,000 monthly increase, thus, it will amount to P56 billion a year.

This will incur a P16 billion to P26 billion yearly deficit to the SSS who have only an annual investment income of P30 billion to P40 billion.

The outgoing president said, “Given this situation, the Social Security System will be constrained to draw from and use its Investment Reserve Fund (IRF) to support the pension increase. Consequently, the IRF will diminish over the years, eventually reaching zero by the year 2029.”

Amidst all of this, Duterte remained determined in his push to have this approved.

Imagine a President of a company receiving only P12,000 mo. Pension? Or a retired employee receiving only P1,500 pension. With the high cost of living, goods and medicines will this suffice?

Another thing, meron pong hindi naisamang ilang years of service sa pension ang sss.

Kung mayroon mang dapat ipaalam sa mga miembro, pwede naman by the dissemination of information thru letters or leaflets or the like to the member companies who should in turn do to their member employees. and also to be displayed in prominent sites in SSS branch offices. Di ba mandatory ang membership sa SSS ng bawat worker or employee in the private sector? bakit kailangan pang mag-commercials.

Thank God for this decision on the increase in pension.Pres. Aquino approved the increase in salary of its officers but declined the proposal of increase for its members. This is inconsistent..

About time a President is concerned with retired employees who have given their sweat and money monthly to be able to live comfortably and buy required medicines when they no longer are working, Pres. Aquino did not think of that,…….and his candidate , lost . kawawa ! But Pres. Duterte whose image is rough and rowdy has the kindest heart and thinks ofthe poor, old and hungry. Pres Duterte, please keep it up ! God bless you.

Duterte should check first where he will get the money to increase the pension before implementing this increase. If it requires to decrease overpaid commissioners, then cut it first and make sure there will be enough funds to support this increase. Otherwise, there will be no funds available for the younger generations by the time they will retire. Duterte should think of long term solution.

MAG-ISIP MUNA AT GUMAWA NG PARAAN KUNG SAAN MANGGAGALING ANG FUNDS TO SUPPORT THIS INCREASE (and of course, continuous increases for the coming years).

Kahit man lang by locality. Pag collections, ang bilis maningil. Pag release ng benefits, ang hirap.

Due to the needs of the Senior citizens it should be responded by the SSS itself for the good of the members; they should find a way; an alternative on how to make needs recheable; if the SSS really want to grow in thier service they can do so on how to reach the deficit. On the other hand , if our government would want to help the Senior citizens pensioners, the government could make an appropriation to help the SSS. The Senior citizens SSS pensioners are people of the Republic of the Philippines, they are paying taxes to the government and it is the obligation of the government to help his people in return. The government officials; law making body; congressmen, senators up to the President, they could make this help realized if they really care for the the people specially the senior citizens who will satisfy thier needs for a few more years in this world. We should remember that the government officials elected by the people should function to work for the good of the people for basically , a government is for the people , structured by the people and the people who are elected to function must function in return. Whatever be the defficiencies in the SSS, the government must support that is the purpose of paying our taxes.

this really is good news for all pensioners. Thanks be to God! pero, there is one thing that really bothers me a lot about those persons/people who retired for medical reason. a bro in law of mine is a poor victim of having had his pension suspended because he had to undergo another rounds of medical examinations. his case was that of having his aortic and mitral replaced with artificial ones and the doctor of the SSS office told him that he is already ok and that his pension for medical reason will not anymore continue. this is a case of partial, because only the aortic and mitral were affected but is a permanent disability, thus, the evalution of the SSS doctor should not be that he is ok. what if he was the one in that position? a meager pension ng isang disable ay kailangan bang e stop after receiving pension for two years dahil ok na daw ang pensioner na eto! where is justice? he has a lifetime medicine maintenance para patuloy ang magandang daloy ng dugo sa kanyang puso dahil lalapot ang dugo if he does not take his daily medication plus maintenance para di tataas ang kanyang bp. grabe talaga ang mga taga SSS, lalo na ang doctor sa regional office nila!walang mga puso, walang awa! wala na ngang work ang tao dahil medically retired, so where do you think will he gets his source to buy for his medicine maintance? Mayor President Elect Rody Duterte pls let your man review this policy. sila na walang kapansanan ay tumatanggap ng malaki sa pera ng mga tao kaya dapat na talaga mabawasan na ang mga elepante sa ahensya na yan! thank you Mr. President and God bless you!
