Escape and Enjoy with the Beauty of Siargao Island

Summer is only a fraction of 2018, so don’t forget to cherish it higala! This is the perfect time to travel, relax, and spend an amazing time with your family and friends.

It may be hard to choose between all the worthy locations to spend this season, but one thing’s for sure: Siargao Island should definitely be at the top of your list!

This teardrop-shaped island of Surigao del Norte is not only the Philippines’ Surfing Capital, it’s also the home of the most amazing beaches in our country.

Jiffy Badal: Siargao has been one of the top destinations that I want to explore in the Philippines and just last March 17-18, 2018, it was realized. Perfect dose of vitamin sea.

March 16, 2018
*We rented a van (Php2500/day self-drive) in Cagayan de Oro
*Left the city at 8:30 PM

March 17, 2018 (DAY 1)
*Had a quick stop in Butuan at around 1:00 AM
*Arrived in Surigao del Norte port to Dapa around 4:00 AM (P150 ferry ticket + P10 terminal fee)
*We left the van at the covered court
*Boarded a ferry at 4:30 AM
*Arrived in Siargao around 8:30 AM
*A 30-minute ride to our accommodation at Patrick’s on the Beach (Booked a room ahead P550 per day)
*Breakfast (P129 per meal)
*Started island hopping: Naked Island, Daku Island, and Guyam Island (P300 per person)
*At Guyam Island, there is a maintenance fee of P10 per person
*Had a heavy lunch at a carenderia near our accommodation (P80 per person)
*Supposedly, we’re going to join the wildest party on the island yet we were too tired and just slept the whole night

March 18, 2018 (DAY 2)
*Prepped ourselves for a road trip
*Rented 2 Mio motorcycles (P450 per bike per day)
*First stop: Cloud Nine
*Went to Del Carmen (1-hour ride from General Luna) attempting to make it to Sugba Lagoon on time (30-minute boat ride)
*Upon arriving the port, it was already 9:00 AM so we decided to go back just to catch up with the ferry back to Surigao del Norte
*Bought a souvenir shirt, ref magnet, and keychains
*Left Siargao by 11:30 AM and missing the island already
*Arrived in Surigao del Norte around 2:30 PM, boarded the van and went to Gaisano Capital
*It was already 3:00 PM when we had lunch at Buddy’s Grill (Sweet n Sour Fish with rice in a bowl and Cookies and Cream shake for P150)
*Went back to the road again and watched the sunset in Lake Mainit
*Passed 7:00 PM, we had dinner at Mr. Shrimps and Crabs in Butuan (200 grams buttered garlic shrimps, 1 cup rice, and a coke in a can for P143)
*12:00 in the midnight when we arrived in Cagayan de Oro

To remember:
*Be mindful of the ferry schedules. The earliest trip is at 4:30 AM and the last trip is at 10:00 AM.
*Book your accommodation ahead of your trip.
*Better if you can drive motorcycles.
*Ask locals where your destinations are, for they know the island more than you do.

Other tourist destinations at Siargao Island:
*Magpupungko Rock Pools
*Sugba Lagoon
*Sohoton Cove

Island Hopping.

Feel the sun and enjoy the white beaches of Siargao Island.

Road Trip!!

Cloud 9.

And most importantly, TAKE A SELFIE! Lots and lots of it.
