20 Jul FDA Warns Against Use Of Valved Face Masks vs COVID-19
Mga higala! The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now warning the public against the use of face masks with exhaust valves since these masks do not have an “infection control” mechanism!
The said masks are designed for industrial use and not for medical or surgical purposes.
According to a report by the Philippine Star, FDA director-general Eric Domingo said that the valved face masks are not made to protect a person from inhaling the air being exhaled by an infected person wearing it.
Moreover, an advisory by The Medical City announced that these masks do not block transmission of COVID-19 because they allow exhaled air and droplets to escape.
