11 Jul Female Suspect Arrested For Identity Theft and Extortion Via Facebook in Limketkai Entrapment Operation
Mga higala! A female suspect was arrested last Saturday, July 7, 2018, for Identity Theft and Robbery Extortion in an entrapment operation by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group 10 at the Limketkai Business Center.
According to their post, the said suspect created a number of fake Facebook accounts using pictures and the identity of a male victim and posted several statements damaging his reputation. The suspect then demanded money in exchange for deleting the said Facebook accounts.
Upon knowing of the crime, the PNP then decided to set up the said entrapment operation and successfully caught the suspect together with Cagayan de Oro City Police Station 2.
The following items were then confiscated:
- 1 unit Cherry Mobile C2i Phone color gold,
- 1 unit Cherry Mobile Flare phone color black,
- Entrapment money (PHP 20,000.00).
The suspect is now under the custody of PNP-Anti Cybercrime Group 10 with cases for Identity theft and Libel of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act) and violation of Article 293 (Robbery Extortion) of the Revised Penal Code.
