27 Jun First Hyperbaric Chamber Facility in Mindanao to Rise by October
This year, specifically on October, a Hyperbaric Chamber facility will rise at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), which is considered to be the first in Mindanao.
The groundbreaking rites for the one-floor building just right behind the Mindanao Heart Center was held last June 25, 2016, Saturday.
According to Robert Alabado who is the regional director of the Department of Tourism (DOT), the said facility will give divers the assurance that there would be a competent and effective medical support as they explore the deepest parts of the diving spots.
As soon as its construction will be finished, Alabado said that they’ll be able to finally market Samal Island being one of the best sites for microphotography.
“The Hyperbaric Chamber System is very important in treating scuba divers who are suffering from decompression sickness, a condition arising from dissolved gases coming out of solution into bubbles inside a depressurization,” as the DOT press briefer said, mentioning that the hyperbaric chambers are airtight-encased devices used for nursing decompression sickness and other conditions related with diving caused from exposure to different mixture of pure oxygen and natural air at different atmospheric pressure. Also, it explained that the bubbles can be developed inside and moe to any part of the body which will then cause rashes, pain in the joints, paralysis, or even death.
