First Novel Coronavirus Case in Philippines Confirmed by DOH

Mga higala! On Thursday, January 30, 2020, DOH confirmed the first case of the new novel coronavirus (nCoV) in the Philippines.

This was revealed by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III in a press conference earlier today.

According to Duque, the novel coronavirus was detected in a 38-year old female patient who arrived in Manila via Hong Kong on January 21, from Wuhan, China, where the virus originated.

At the time of this writing, there are at least 170 people killed by nCoV and nearly 8,000 infected in Wuhan, China and several countries in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
