02 Feb First reported death due to novel coronavirus in the Philippines
DOH (Department of Health) reported last Sunday that a patient positive for novel coronavirus had died and is the first death due to the said virus outside China. The patient was a 44 year-old man who was the partner of another patient with a confirmed case of the same virus. The patient was admitted at San Lazaro Hospital last January 25 and died last Saturday (Feb 01, 2020).

According to Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III “Over the course of the patient’s admission he developed severe pneumonia. In his last few days, the patient was stable and showed signs of improvement. However, the condition of the patient deteriorated within the last 24 hours resulting in his demise,”
