31 Aug Following CDO, Iligan City Requests SIGNAL CUT-OFF During ‘Diyandi Festival’
Mga higala! The Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) has requested a signal cut-off during the DIYANDI FESTIVAL this September. This is similar to what was implemented in Cagayan de Oro throughout the major events of the Higalaay Festival 2018.
According to a report from the Philippine News Agency, ICPO chief , Senior Supt. Manuel Alvarez, stated in a recent meeting with the Iligan City Peace and Order Council that they want to take measures in order to avoid what happened in the Isulan, Sultan Kudarat blast last Tuesday, which killed three people and wounded more than 30 others.
Alvarez is now asking local officials to support their signal cut-off request for the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), in order to have a safer celebration of the Diyandi Festival.
Moreover, Alvarez emphasized that the temporary loss of signal will only occur “during the highlights of the celebration.” These include the Diyandi Street Dancing and Showdown and the Miss Iligan Beauty Pageant on Sept. 27; Civic-Military Parade on Sept. 28; and Fiesta Procession on September 29.
