04 May Former Senator Edgardo Angara of LDP Endorsed Rodrigo Duterte
On Tuesday, May 3, former senator and Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) chairman Edgardo Angara endorsed Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
“The LDP has decided to give Mayor Duterte its full and unequivocal support because we believe his platform addresses the core problems of the country, at this crucial juncture in our history,” the former senator confidently said. “Mayor Duterte offers the best hope for structural change,” he also added.
He believed that Duterte’s agenda on peace and development addresses the concern of most of the Filipino people.
LDP is a political group that has been created in 1988 through the merging of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan or PDP-Laban led by Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr and Ramon Mitra Jr’s Lakas ng Bansa.
It has been known that Angara has supported Fernando Poe Jr. in his campaign for the presidency in 2004. Poe’s daughter, Grace, a presidential candidate for the 2016 presidential elections has not been supported by Angara and chosen Duterte instead.
