07 Nov FS Catanico Spring Resort Project to be Developed After City and TIEZA Make Agreement
During its regular session, the 18th City Council of Cagayan de Oro is going to act on the proposed ordinance which authorizes the city mayor the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), an agency attached to the Department of Tourism, for developing the F.S. Catanico Spring Resort Project that is located in Barangay F.S. Catanico. Through this, the city will get a boost in its tourism industry.
Under the said proposed MOA, TIEZA, which was given the tasks to designate, regulate and supervise the Tourism enterprise Zone (TEZ) as what is provided for by the Republic Act 9593 or the Tourism Act of 2009, shall run a public bidding for the proposed project and monitor its development.
The city, which will serve as the primary party of TIEZA, shall facilitate the issuance of appropriate permits, licenses and environmental clearances. That includes the payment of corresponding fees from all local government units and national government agencies, among others. Meanwhile, to fund the amount called for the completion of the project is the TIEZA which is in accordance with the plans and specifications. When completed, the project will then be turned over to the city with all the improvements. As included in the MOA, the city shall run, head, supervise and retain the project.
