Gibo Teodoro Lands in Davao today! – Set to Meet with Duterte

On Monday, May 16, Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro, the former defense chief under the Arroyo administration was seen arriving at the Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao City and is set to meet with presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte.

This is the first day that the Davao City mayor appears in public since Election Day. The 51-year-old Gibo is one of Duterte’s top choices for Secretary of National Defense.

When Duterte was asked about Gibo as being the next defense secretary, he said he have to meet with Gibo and would have to ” persuade to go back to government.”

But the decision for the next defense secretary is still torn between two qualified individuals, the other one aside from Gibo is former Armed Forces chief of staff Hermogenes Esperon Jr.

Duterte is a Gibo supporter even in Gibo’s 2010 presidential bid. He was also called by Duterte as being “brilliant.”

Duterte will also meet today the ambassadors from of China, Israel, and Japan.

On the eve of Sunday, Duterte met with the possible chiefs of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police; Southern Luzon Command chief Lieutenant General Ricardo Visaya and police Chief Supt. Ronald dela Rosa.
