07 Jun Globe Telecom Opens 1st 700MHz Cell Site, Registers 100.32Mbps Speed
On June 6, Globe Telecom fired up its first 700Mhz cell site in Diliman, Quezon City. It registered 100.32 Mbps after a speed test was conducted around the site.
In a Facebook post, Globe Telecom company officials showed the cell site to National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) officials.
The opening of the cell site followed the week where Globe made a deal to purchase part of San Miguel Corporation’s telecommunications business including radio frequencies. 703 to 720.5 and 758 to 775.5 MHz were the frequencies approved by the NTC to be of use of Globe.
With Globe starting to roll out new spectrum, more areas will experience the benefits of 700MHz, soon.
